What began as a concept in 1935, the Newark Library Bookmobile was put into service in 1938 to serve the rural areas of Licking County. The current Licking County Library Bookmobile is the 6th generation and was manufactured in Columbus by Farber Specialty Vehicles. It was built on a Freightliner truck chassis and features a wide-body design allowing for more space, increased shelf capacity, and 8-foot headroom. It carries over 5000 books as well as DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, and magazines. Materials from the bookmobile are available on a 4-week checkout period which also includes no late fees or fines.
