The Emerson R. Miller Library opened on the west side of Newark on November 19, 1972, with an emphasis on personalized service. Not only did it house a collection of new books and other materials, it was also built to be home to the Bookmobile.
After 40 years of use, the library received extensive renovations in March 2013. Special features include two group study rooms, a castle portal leading into the children's area, an early literacy/toddler room, teen space enclosed by an interior glass garage door and a game room.
